Contest End Date

Thank you again for everyone's great ideas so far and especially for Richard for creating our template floor plan.  John and I are excited to see everyone's final designs and ideas.  We are making the final deadline for submissions the end of April.  The date we would like to have all submissions by is April 28th.  Happy planning :)

**Remember, if you don't have a floor plan suggestion, pictures and design ideas are also welcome.

Getting Started

My husband and I were starting to plan our basement reno not too long ago, but felt a bit stuck thinking "inside the box" about our designs.  We decided to challenge for our friends and family to come up with a basement design that is creative yet practical.  If you know our family and friends you will know that they are really into home renovations, architecture and the HGTV so this is a good fit.

John and I will judge each design based on creativity, ingenuity, and most efficient sure of space.  The winners of this competition will be taken out for dinner on us!

In the end, we may use a plan as is, we may use pieces of multiple layouts or we may come up with our own idea but based on the contests criteria a winner will be chosen. 

John and I have some criteria for our "spaces" and they are:-Storage space in both our areas wherever we can put it

 John specifically wants:-Sectional couch-projection tv (we have a projector (can ceiling mount it)-large empty area to eventually be used for kids area and large toys etc.-bathroom 
MichelleMy area should function as a laundry room/arts and craft studio (with a craft table) and a hair salon. -Laundry machines/supplies - should be able to be hidden or made to look nice/decorative-Need to have a salon style hair washing station (could also be used as my laundry sink - I am open to suggestions of where and how to make this work - see my research below)-Need to have a mirror and place for my hair styling supplies/products & chair (should be near an outlet for hair dryer – outlets can be added anywhere)-craft/art supplies should be stored away.-Would like a table(s) that could be used for sewing/crafts (could double as my hair styling vanity when not being used for crafts but doesn't have to).
